Parental Information re Vaccinations

Dear Parent/Carers

This autumn, 12 to 15 year olds are being offered a first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at the same time as the annual flu vaccine. Children who are 12 years old and over on the day the School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS) team visits, will be offered a vaccination as part of the in-school vaccination programme, if their parent has given consent.

Year 7 students will be offered the flu vaccination only unless they are 12 years of age as at Wednesday 6th October.

Our academy will be hosting the vaccine clinics from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th October.

Our local SAIS provider, Sirona Care & Health, is legally responsible for the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine and flu vaccine to students in our region of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Like all school-based vaccination programmes, these vaccinations will be administered by Sirona Care & Health following the usual approach to school-based immunisation.

There are separate consent forms for the flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine. Parents can provide consent for both the flu and the Covid-19 vaccine, for one or other of the vaccines or neither. Our academy is not delivering or responsible for the vaccines and so will not have access to any of the consent data that is gathered.

If you wish for your child to have one, or both vaccines, please complete both forms via the links below by 12pm on Wednesday 6th October. If you would like a printed copy, it can be collected from main reception.

Only students with parental consent will be asked to attend the clinic, where their consent data will be checked by Sirona Care & Health staff. Students without the appropriate consents will not be vaccinated. Students will not be able to have the vaccine in school without the consent of a parent. If your child is not able to attend school on the day of the Immunisation Clinic they can attend a catch-up clinic at a later date. City Academy will send out information about these clinics at a later date.
