Adult Education
Adult Education at the Beacon Centre
We run accredited ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses. Our classes are at different levels, from Entry 1 to Entry 3 and are taught by qualified, experienced teachers.
2024-2025 courses are in partnership with City of Bristol College and run over 2 semesters:
- Semester 1 – September to January (50 hours)
- Semester 2 – January to July (90 hours)
Students on these courses attend for a 2-hour session twice a week (a total of 4 hours a week). Those who have lived in the UK for 3 years or more are eligible to enrol, and the courses are free and can lead to an exam. Please ask us for further details.
We also have free ESOL for Beginners courses. All adult ESOL students are eligible for these courses. These classes meet for 2 hours per week and focus on to basic speaking, listening, reading and writing in English.
For more information about our courses, please ring Ewa or Azmina on 0117 954 2806 or call into the Beacon Centre, next to City Academy, BS5 9JH.
We recommend the following website https://leb.community/. LEB Community is the website of the Learning English in Bristol network. It provides information about the ESOL classes, courses and conversation clubs in the city – all in one place. It is also a place to find learning and teaching resources, relevant reports and links to organisations that may be useful to ESOL learners.
