Update Letter to All Parents

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for your support over the last few weeks, especially in ensuring your child has engaged with the online lessons. I am really pleased to say that we currently have no known cases of coronavirus within our staff or study body. We also have no staff or students having to self-isolate due to school contact.

Please ensure that your child does not attend school if they are poorly. If they, or any member of your family has one of the main Covid symptoms – a high temperature, a new persistent cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – they should not attend school, until the person with symptoms has had a test and it is negative.

We have well-practiced protocols in the academy to keep staff and students safe and a robust procedure to track and trace cases that transpire amongst our staff and students. All of this is serving to reduce the spread of the virus and, as always, Public Health England advice is being followed rigorously.

All staff and students (other than those exempt) must wear a face covering in school corridors and communal areas. We managed to source reusable, washable cotton masks for 50p each, and we are therefore able to sell these at cost price to students, which we hope is helpful, as it’s a significant saving
from shop prices.

I had previously scheduled a Parent Forum on Thursday 10th December, but since we are now running Year 11 Parents’ Evening virtually on this evening, we have now moved the Parent Forum to Tuesday 15th December from 6pm-7pm virtually via Zoom. If you wish to join, please visit our website for details of the link and joining information: https://cityacademybristol.clf.uk/news/parent-forum-with-the-principal/

Although we are not doing a Christmas Jumper day for students, we are doing a food bank collection. If you wish to donate any items, your student can drop donations of non perishable goods to reception this week.

Please also note that in previous years, students have finished early on the last day of term prior to the Christmas break, however we are keen that students do not miss any lessons, so all students, including Year 11, will finish at 3.20pm on Thursday 17th December. Monday 4th January is a staff INSET day, so all students return to school on Tuesday 5th January.

If you have any queries, please contact me via the school email address [email protected]

Best wishes
Jon Angell
