City Academy Academy Councillor Vacancy

As the City Academy is part of a Multi-Academy Trust (the Cabot Learning Federation), we have an Academy Council rather than a Governing Body. However there are similarities in the role, which is officially to be responsible for holding the Principal and the school leadership team to account for the quality and effectiveness of the academy experience of the students under their care

You can find out about the Academy Council and see the minutes of our meetings on the academy website: https://cityacademybristol.clf.uk/key-information/academy-council-2/

We already have two excellent elected Parent Councillors, Lian Thielen and Sabah Bakali, but we now have a vacancy for a Sponsored Councillor (i.e. one appointed by the CLF). We are particularly keen to appoint a member of the Somali community, as we want the Council to reflect the diversity of the school, and our last Somali Councillor has had to stand down. This could be a parent/carer or another community member, but it needs to be someone who is passionate about education, is willing to attend meetings and to read all the paperwork that goes with governance, and also to do some basic training on-line.

If you think you might be interested, or know a suitable candidate, please contact our clerk, Linda Corbidge by emailing [email protected] and the Chair will arrange to meet with you.

You will be helping us to continue City Academy’s great improvement journey.

Best wishes,

Ruth Pickersgill (Chair of Academy Council)
