City Academy students perform at Bristol Old Vic

Twelve Year 7 and 8 students from City Academy performed to an invite-only audience at the internationally-renowned Bristol Old Vic theatre.
The performance was inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, facilitated by directors from the theatre, and devised by the students themselves.
Pupils from several Bristol schools and groups were invited to take part in a series of workshops designed to give them a taste of professional theatre life.
Over the course of the day, students learned about stagecraft, movement, and voice projection before performing on the Old Vic’s famous stage.
The students performed with great confidence, creativity, and energy, showcasing both their teamwork and growing performance skills.
Ellie Morgan, trainee drama teacher at City Academy, said: “This was an unforgettable experience for our students and a fantastic opportunity to perform in such an iconic theatre.
“They embraced every challenge throughout the workshops and showed incredible creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm on stage. We are extremely proud of what they achieved.”
